Shonia Brown was born on July 12, 1969. She is a novelist, independent book publisher, professional technical writer and entrepreneur.

Shonia L. Brown was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science, in English-Education at Georgia State University in 1993, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational/Instructional Technology at the University of West Georgia.

Her first novel, “A Deeper Love,” was released in 2002. Her fiction has also appeared in the anthology, “Ma-Ka Diasporic Juks: Contemporary Writing by Queers of African Descent.” In 2007, Shonia’s Nghosi Books imprint published erotica authored by 25 Black lesbian writers as part of the first anthology in her Nghosi Books New Voices series, “Longing, Lust and Love: Black Lesbian Stories.”

Shonia co-created, with Betty Couvertier, the annual Rock, Rhythm, and Rhyme Artist Explosion, a concert of independent singers, bands, poets, and dancers that has taken place during the Atlanta Pride Festival since 2003. Two years later, she was awarded the Community Builder Award from the Atlanta Pride Committee. In 2008, she received recognition from the National Black Justice Coalition as an example of an accomplished Black LGBTIQ individual, and was named the female grand marshal of the Atlanta Pride Festival.

Currently, Brown is a senior technical writer and digital content creator, and is behind girlygeek.biz, a new project that promotes women in technology through an online portfolio, networking community, and training course/seminars.
