June Jordan was born on July 9, 1936 (to June 14, 2002). She was an influential Caribbean-American poet, activist, journalist, essayist, and teacher. Prolific and passionate, she was the author of well over two dozen books of non-fiction, poetry, fiction, drama and children’s writing.
